Brief Overview


  • Located in Chamoli district in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India; nearest town is Joshimath, just 12 km from base

  • Rated as one of the most popular treks for beginners and named after Lord Curzon, then Viceroy of India. He crossed this magnificent pass and since then it has also been known as the Curzon’s trail

  • As you make your journey, the old oak, rhododendron and deodar forests sporadically give way to remarkable meadows of Gorson Bugyal, providing alluring views from every turn

  • Behold the beauty with the delightful glimpses of 7000 metres club of Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi (7817 m), Kamet (7756 m), Trishul (7120 m), Chaukhamba (7128 m) and Dronagiri Parvat (7066 m)

  • Not just one pass, you’ll be crossing 2 other pass’ other than Kuari Pass, which are Tali Top and Vinayak Pass and will witness a terrific picturesque view from the top

  • Best time to visit is between Apr to Jun & Sept to Nov, unless one is interested in a snow trek, then the best time is Dec to Mar

  • Last ATM point is available in Joshimath




Itinerary


  • Day 1 - Pick-up from Dehradun Railway Station (6:30 AM), drive to Joshimath by taxi – 295 km drive (10/11 hrs)

  • Day 2 - Drive to Dhak village & then trek to Gulling Top from Joshimath – 12 km drive and 6 km trek (5/6 hrs)

  • Day 3 - Trek to Khullara Top from Gulling Top – 7.5 km (6/7 hrs)

  • Day 4 - Trek to Kuari Pass from Khullara Top and descend to Chitrakantha/Tali campsite – 12 km (8/9 hrs)

  • Day 5 - Trek to Auli from Chitrakantha/ Tali campsite & drive to Joshimath – 7 km (5/6 hrs) & 13 km drive (1 hr)

  • Day 6 - Head back to Dehradun from Joshimath by taxi – 295 km drive (10/11 hrs)

Overnight train to Dehradun from Delhi

  • Train 1 - Recommended – Nanda Devi Express – 12205 - runs daily

By Road
Overnight bus to ISBT, Dehradun from ISBT, Kashmere Gate, Delhi (see bus chart)
Suggestion: To take Uttarakhand Govt. buses from Delhi ISBT as they are punctual and quicker to reach than Pvt. Buses. They will drop you at Dehradun ISBT which is 6 km from Railway Station

By Air

Instructions


  • Smoking cigarettes makes you lethargic & can potentially shortened your breath during the trek, we recommend not to smoke for your own good

  • Drinking alcohol is not allowed since it results in dehydration and can cause AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness), it eventually reduces the oxygen level from the body

  • Buying drugs or any illegal material is strictly prohibited

  • Instructions from guide should be paid attention to and followed

  • Don't carry denim - they are uncomfortable for treks and add weight (unless you want to do modeling :p)

  • Don't carry cola, alcohol and personal food

  • Avil 25mg – 4 tablets (allergies)

  • Combiflam – 4 tablets (pain killer)

  • Norflox TZ & Lomofen– 6 tablets each (diarrhea)

  • Domperidone – 6 tablets (vomiting)

  • Omez/ Rantadine – 10 tablets (antacids)

Cancellation & Refund Policy


  • Cancellations made 10 days before the commencement of the trip, 100% of total cost will be refunded
  • Cancellations made 5-9 days before the commencement of the trip, 50% of total cost will be refunded
  • Cancellations made 0-4 days before the commencement of the trip, a bit too late for any return
